Good ideas change the world - but only when the right people get hold of them and put them into practice.
Catalyst is all about identifying good ideas from the Just Love Network - those already bubbling away, and those that haven't yet surfaced - and turning them into serious, sustainable and hard-hitting justice projects.
These might be political campaigns, missional communities, or creative collectives. They could be social enterprises, podcast platforms, or networking databases. They might be small interventions we can achieve in 3 months, or large-scale interventions we build over 3 decades. Either way, the purpose is to bring together people, prayer, ideas, and resources, and see what happens.
What to Expect
With hundreds of people working on dozens of crucial issues all over the world, the Just Love Network is well-positioned to release major change in society.
What would it look like to fully release that potential?
This first event will focus on:
Bringing together people with interesting ideas, skills and perspectives
Building relationships
Going "from good to great" on 1-2 existing projects and ideas
Brainstorming, creative thinking and problem-solving: where is the Just Love Network well-placed to make major
Identifying major avenues for collaboration with other justice spaces

Scotland Summer Gathering: What Will Our Legacy Be?
We're gathering the Just Love Network in Scotland this summer to ask the question, What will our legacy be?
Join us in Edinburgh this summer to look back and reflect on the legacy of Jesus, as well as looking forward to pray and dream for where God is mobilising us for his justice here in Scotland.
We will get practical with ideas in workshops and we will seek his voice in creative prayer and sung worship. In the evening there will be an option to get dinner together and keep on hanging out and connecting.

Dr Krish Kandiah is a long-standing friend of Just Love and a campaigner on human rights, care system reform and refugee policy. He has been heavily involved in securing safer routes for unaccompanied child migrants, and in developing UK resettlement schemes for Hong Kong, Afghan and Ukrainian refugees. Find out more here.

Having launched in autumn, it's time to carry out our first 6 Month Strategy & Vision Review, and all members of the Just Love Network are invited.

This month, we're launching a London Hub for the Just Love Network, serving as a space of support and action specifically organised around people living in London.
At Just Love, we constantly meet people who are committed to the long-term work of justice, but who are looking for depth, connection, and community. There is a strong desire for spaces to learn and grow at the nexus of spiritual formation and social justice.
We’re looking forward to sharing the details of what this group will look like at the launch, but in the meantime, you can find out more about what Just Love Regional Hubs are here. Come be part of this growing community, joining over 50 other Christian young adults committed to supporting each other in the work of faith and justice here in London.
In Conversation: Neil Grant
The London Hub is all about breaking open huge topics and getting practical. For this first event, we're joined by Dr Neil Grant, a climate scientist, community activist, and member of the Just Love Network.
Through an interview and Q&A, Neil will share his perspective on the state of the global environment post-COP28 in Dubai, leading us in thinking about the key priorities for climate action in 2024:
Where are we at?
What needs to happen this year?
What are the signs of hope? What are the big fears?
Neil works for the German policy think tank Climate Analytics and lives in a small intentional community in West London, where he helps run North Kensington Community Energy (NKCE), an award-winning organisation delivering community-owned solar power and investing in the local area.
What to expect
Across 2024, we aim to host "In Conversation" nights like this at least once a quarter, alongside smaller spin-off events, projects and learning communities across the city. We're trialing a simple threefold structure:
A short time of guided prayer and sung worship
An interview + Q&A with a member of the Just Love Network
Breakout spaces to chat, reflect, and process together
There will also be lots of social time to connect and hang out - come from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start, and we'll wrap up by 9pm, in time for a pub trip for those who are keen.

Reset: Marathon Rhythms
Join us in early 2024 for a retreat focused on spiritual, practical, and relational rhythms for faith and justice.
Life is hard, and seeking social justice is even harder. Against all the odds, and in the midst of vast global pain, uncertainty and complexity, how do we keep ourselves going, thriving and bearing fruit for the long haul?
Reset: Marathon Rhythms
When: Friday the 19th of January, 17:30 - Sunday 21st of January, 12:00
The pursuit of social justice is like a marathon. At times it's stunning and we feel like we're making a real impact. At others, it is gruelling, frustrating, and exhausting.
This is true whether we're at the heart of politics, business, and decision-making, or serving and campaigning on the margins of society. Whether our focus is small, local, and interpersonal, or large, global, and systemic, we find that God's work in ourselves and the world is slow, steady, and long-term. "Slow and steady wins the race," but it can be hard to believe or put this into practice. How much more so when we're also dealing with all that life throws our way: illness, bereavement, relational complexity, or any other kind of personal struggle.
Generations of people have found strength and comfort in the example of Jesus, who found rhythms of life and empowerment for the work set before him.
This 36 hour retreat (Friday evening - Sunday morning) will focus on three key aspects of our lives:
Spiritual
Practical
Relational
This is a moment to step back, refuel, and get your bearings for the year ahead. There will be a light programme of teaching, workshops, and prayer, but mostly just space to connect with others, process your questions or get some time alone with God. It's open to anyone in the Just Love Network who wants to realign their sense of purpose and passion for justice at the start of a new year.
This event is fully catered, including a bed for two nights (some beds are in dormitories with others, some are not - you can express if you have a strong preference on the ticket form).
Tickets cost £65 (full price), £40 concession. See below for more detail.
Key Information
Timings
Guests are able to arrive any time from 5.30pm on the Friday evening, but the programme begins at 7.30pm to give everyone time to arrive. Dinner will be served from 6-7.30pm, but we'll keep you some back if you arrive late.
We'll finish up at midday on Sunday 21st, allowing people time to get back home for the rest of the weekend! However, you're more than welcome to stay around for lunch in Harpenden if you want to keep hanging out! (This will be at a pub or cafe near the train station).
Location
The Oval is a calm and peaceful space, located less than one hour from London. Despite its proximity, it feels like stepping into a different world!
Harpenden is a 30 minute train ride from London St Pancras. It is then a 20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi journey to The Oval, where the retreat is taking place. Please contact us directly regarding travel bursaries.

This event is fully catered, including:

Breakfast - Sunday 21st
You can also stick around for lunch at a pub or cafe near Harpenden station on the Sunday afternoon if you want! However, this is not included in the ticket price.
We'll be in touch nearer the time about exact timings and catering plans - we'll all muck in and help a bit with the cooking!
Ticket Price
This fully-catered, residential retreat costs £65 (full price) or £40 (concession price). We think this a great deal and have worked hard to keep costs low, while also delivering a quality event in a fantastic location!
We have currently set aside 20% of tickets as concession tickets, but this is to some degree flexible. Please get in touch with Tim Lornie if you're not sure whether you count as a "concession" ticket for this event. In brief, concession tickets are designed for anyone who wants to attend the event but who is prevented from doing so by the ticket price.
There is also an option to "pay it forward" and contribute to the concession tickets of others, if that's something you'd like to do.
We expect this event to cost approximately £75-80/head, with Just Love subsidising tickets. We have priced the event based on a survey, in which most respondents stated they'd be happy to pay £60-£79 for an event like this.

Kickstarting our 1000 Money Conversations programme with a conversation about capitalism.
Over 2024, Just Love is pioneering a new project called 1000 Money Conversations. We’ll start off 2024 with an open Focus Group thinking about consumerism, capitalism and the global economy.
Whether we like it or not, this is the economic system we live in. What does it mean to live well within this system, even while working to transform it?
This conversation about individual people and structural issues will frame and flow into our later, ongoing conversations about money, impact and radical giving.

West Midlands Hub: Christmas Social
Hang out, grab a drink, and dream up the future of the West Midlands Hub.
Join us at Cathedral Square, Birmingham, to connect with other Just Love Network members in West Midlands and explore the artisan Christmas Market. We'll also take some time to think about where the Just Love Network is going in the West Midlands, and begin dreaming up some events, campaigns and projects for 2024.
Meet at the Cathedral Square at 7.30pm, or drop in whenever from 8:15pm, after we move to a central Birmingham pub.

Clean Air Campaign - Open Call
Hear about the Clean Air Campaign planned by the Just Love Healthcare Sphere, share ideas, and speak into its development.
Air pollution shortens the lives of millions of people every year, both here in the UK and around the world. The medical benefits of cleaner air are well known, but governments and healthcare institutions are not moving quickly enough to reduce pollution and respond effectively.
As healthcare professionals and others in Just Love, we want to respond. We are putting together a campaign on clean air issues, and are workshopping different ideas. Come join this simple call to:

The Clean Air Campaign is a project from the Just Love Healthcare Sphere - but all are welcome to join in and help us shape it.
