Introducing Just Love’s New Chair of Trustees - Tim Dixon
After six years of dedicated service as the chair of our board of trustees, Alison Coulter has handed on the baton. Alison steered us through a pandemic, a transition of CEO and all of the challenges that come with growing from a start up to a more established charity. She has done it all with incredible calm, patience, competence and compassion. We are incredibly grateful for her leadership.
We are also delighted to introduce Tim Dixon, who will be taking on the role, becoming Just Love’s new Chair of Trustees.
Tim is the co-founder of More in Common, an organisation set up almost a decade ago to tackle the forces of division and polarisation after the murder of West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox, who was a friend of Tim’s. They are now in seven countries with a staff of over 60, and one analysis in last year’s general election rated More in Common as the most accurate source of polling insights in the UK.
Tim has a diverse career working in businesses, charities and politics, and in recent years he has focused on building new initiatives to mobilise people to address major social challenges, co-founding seven organisations since 2010 on issues ranging from modern day slavery, to the democratic uprising in Syria, to achieving peace in Colombia. He grew up in Australia and worked as a chief speechwriter for two Prime Ministers before moving to the US and then the UK, and he has advised political leaders, CEOs, philanthropists, activists and organisations on strategies to engage new audiences and achieve positive change.
We’ll be hearing more from Tim in coming months, but in taking the baton on from Alison in our general meeting he shared on how he first encountered Just Love while he was mapping initiatives around the world that are mobilising Christians to live out the call to justice. Having worked in student ministry on campuses in his early 20s, he saw the potential for long-term impact from Just Love’s model and connected with our first generation of leaders. Since then Tim has enthusiastically supported Just Love’s work.
To find out more about Tim, we’d recommend listening to his recent interviews on the Sacred Podcast and Nonprofits Now.
Please be praying for Tim and for Just Love over this time of transition.
