London Hub: Serve Humbly

  • St Peter's Vauxhall 310 Kennington Lane London, England, SE11 5HY United Kingdom (map)

Work & Vocation in an Age of Injustice - an interview with Tse.

This year, the London Hub is walking month by month through Just Love's six Justice Practices, exploring the core vision we gather around as a community.

Join us for the first of these relaxed evenings as we interview Tse, a London Hub member, on all things purpose, vocation and calling. Tse has thought a lot about how to give our time, gifts and talents for the sake of others, and has some powerful, encouraging ideas to share!

We'll run from 7-9pm, but there's space to stick around and hang out after 9pm for those who want!

The nearest tube stations are Vauxhall and Oval, both a 5 minute walk. Sign up below, as spaces are limited!

Serve Humbly: Time, Skill & Vocation

What is this Justice Practice?

We do life with a posture of service. Whatever we spend our time and skill doing - whether paid work or caring for a relative, volunteering for charity or battling with illness - we aim to do it with others in mind, each as we are able.

Every one of us has been given time, skills and the capacity to make a unique contribution to the world. We are designed by God to steward creation and bring life and fullness out of it.

Often, work and volunteering are framed as being about ourselves. We are told to find employment that 'fulfills' us, or to look for volunteering that's 'rewarding.' This is all well and good, but it's not the point. The point is others.

As the Just Love Network, we aim to put our time, skills and vocation at God's disposal. We take the time to reflect on what we have been given, and we lay it back down, living for others in the best way we can find. Join us this April as we explore this theme with Tse, a member of the Just Love Network and London Hub.

Event Details

Over the course of the evening, we'll spend some time in prayer and sung worship, followed by a brief introduction to the Serve Humbly practice and an interview with Tse. We'll then have more time to reflect and respond in various ways, both individually and together. We'll both start and end the evening with some social time - a space to hang out.

There will be light snacks and refreshments, but dinner will not be provided, so do bring your own or eat before coming!

There is an accessible toilet and the venue is wheelchair accessible. For more specific access info, please contact us at: network@justloveuk.com.

London Hub

The Just Love London Hub is a regular space of prayer, learning, and connection for anyone in London who wants to think more about practicing justice in the way of Jesus.

We host a monthly night of worship, prayer & in-depth conversation, as well as social meet-ups around London.
