JLET Sessions
We'll have a variety of content at JLET to help you in your pursuit of justice in the way of Jesus - whether that’s as an Apprentice, or in your Just Love group. Check out the sessions below to get a taste of what we'll be exploring together.
Just Love Vision and Values
We always start our training with the vision and values of Just Love. They are central to who we are as a movement. Everything else that happens over training and in our groups is grounded in the vision and values.
Theology of Justice Series
This session will come in four parts because there’s just so much goodness! We will look at the call to engage with social justice throughout the biblical story. Where does justice fit in with God’s mission and the mission of the church?
Justice Practice Workshop
This interactive session introduces the idea of a Justice Practice Goal - a focused, meaningful way to grow in living out justice in the way of Jesus. We’ll explore why setting a justice-focused goal matters, how it can bring clarity and motivation to your year, and how to move past common frustrations with goal-setting.
Leadership
This session explores what we mean by just, healthy leadership and why intentional growth in this area truly matters. Together, we’ll unpack the values and practices that shape leaders who are grounded, self-aware, and committed to justice. You’ll leave with practical starting points to reflect on your own leadership context, relationships, and spheres of influence.
Strategy and Evaluation
We really value quality in Just Love. This doesn’t mean perfectionism, but it does mean seeking to use the gifts that God has given us to the best of our ability in order to better serve and love others. Strategy and evaluation are key to building that quality and in this session we'll give you the tools to plan strategically and evaluate progress well.
Prayer
Prayer is not only an essential part of engaging with justice, it’s an essential part of following Jesus. In this session we will re-ground ourselves in why we pray and different ways to pray.
Seminars
You'll be able to attend two of the following seminars:
Campaigning
Campaigning is a key tool for tackling injustice, and this seminar will give you a roadmap for how to get started. You’ll be inspired by stories of previous campaigns, and hear expert advice from an experienced campaigner, Rich Gower. Come to this seminar to get equipped and inspired to campaign whilst at uni and beyond.
Serving your City
Bursting the student bubble and serving vulnerable people in your city should be a normal response to following Jesus, doing what He did. Volunteering your hours to serve your neighbours is invaluable. If you’re not sure where to start with this, or how to do it well, or how to make this the norm of your Just Love group culture, come to this seminar to feel inspired and equipped.
Event Planning
How do you plan an event that people want to come to, that is really excellent quality and works towards Just Love’s vision? This seminar will focus on the key things you need to think about in order to plan excellent events and give you the tools to do so.
Fundraising
Why do we fundraise? How do we fundraise sensitively and effectively? How do we get lots of people involved and fundraise lots of money for other charities? We’ll be looking at these questions and sharing practical tips from over the years.
Building Healthy Community
Building healthy communities is important because that’s what Jesus did, and because we’ll pursue justice best together. It is an act of justice, breaking down barriers, and fighting loneliness. But how do you build community well and maintain it whilst growing? This seminar will help us understand the importance of community and will give tools for developing it, in your Just Love group or in other spaces.
Solo reflection and Group Time
During JLET there will be plenty of time to reflect on what you’re learning on your own and with other members of your team. We want you to digest the content of JLET well, and grow, learn and discuss together.
